I am soon going to say 'Bye' to this kitchen. I wonder whether I can say 'Auf Wiedersehn' (See you again!) to the birthplace of many posts on my blog. :(
Don't miss the printout of a recipe and some more scribbled ones on the fridge :)
At the same time, I am looking forward to going back to *our own* kitchen in Pune, which my husband and I designed to suit our needs. The only thing that I won't have in that kitchen is this view.
These trees are green throughout the year. (Apart from when it snows. Then they look white. :)) The 'green' of them is soothing, isn't it?

For the first time, Im the first to comment-Ah sweetie- feels so nostalgic na! I can totally understand, when I was moving out of Rochester and had to scrub the rented place clean before submitting it back.
It's a lovely kitchen and radiates the warmth of your personality...hope to see your new kitchen shots soon, and may be I'll come and see it for real :)
Waiting for you to continue your stories from Pune

Vaish having moved a bit in the past few years I feel that no matter how cosy the rest of the house its the kitchen that you really feel bad about leaving. Its a hub so to speak.
But you are going to your own "home" (not just another apartment)....so that should make you feel a bit better.
Sambhaloon ja. Have a safe trip.
And please get back to blogging as soon as you can. Will look forward to your posts from Pune.
Vaishali - I have moved a few times in the past years and understand how you feel.
Your kitchen looks lovely. Soon, we will see yummy recipes from the new kitchen in Pune.
Have a safe trip.
You are moving to Pune? Wow that's wonderful. Have a safe trip and take care of your toddler.
Love and care,
Mythili

Nandita, your comment radiates the warmth of YOUR personality. I do hope you come to see my kitchen for real. I am also hoping that we cook some ambrosial Thalagam together in it. :)
Sambhaloon ja.
That touched, Ashwini.
Mandira, moving and especially bidding farewell to the house in which you have been staying (no matter for how many days) is always difficult, isn't it? One might think that doing it often makes you immune to it. But that's not the case, is it?
Mythili, thanks a lot. And as for the toddler...well...I'll try and take care of her, although she makes that task rather difficult at times. ;-)
Our destinies seem to have trodded similar paths, Prema. This is the sixth time that I am saying 'Bye' to a kitchen in the six years of my marriage. :)
Meena, thanks. Oh yes, my Pune kitchen looks good too. Wanna come to have a look? :)
You worded that so well, Monisha. Thanks for wishing me luck.
Yes, Arjuna, moving isn't exactly fun. But I am also looking forward to going to my hometown, into our own world. :)
I am just taking a smile along, Origano. The pan stays here in Düsseldorf. :)
Your kitchen looks like my white kitchen too!! Say goodbye with all your heart and LEAVE with good memories to make better memories!! :)
Do you know I have lived and left more than 11 kitchens in all my 41yrs!!:D:D
Show us the new one when you move in at Pune!! Safe switch!! :))
Love your Dusseldorf kitchen bright and white.
Vaishali, Have a great trip home, I am sure you will enjoy rediscovering the joys of cooking and living in India.
Thats a wonderful kitchen Vaishali, moving is sometimes a pain but it also brings back soo many memories,of people ..of fun times... the odd lil things that have a lengthy stories attached to them surfacing during these endless packing sessions..all add a little fun !! And it shud be exciting to get back to India and starting things all over again...I am always so eager to be the first to cook on the new stove with the new cooker..new rice..new knife...hehe You get the pic I guess :-)
Happy moving ...hope to see u back soon and pics of your custom-made kitchen :-)
Beautiful kitchen Vaishali. I had felt very bad when I had to leave the rented house in Bangalore to come here. It had taken 2 years to set everything and took just less than 2 weeks to packup everything :(. Anyway...good that you are going to your own house and more than anything, you will be near to your family and friends. Take care dear and get back to blogging once you reach. Have a safe journey.
Yes, a little bittersweet... but the end of one chapter is just the beginning of another... :)
Wishing you a safe and wondrous journey home, Vaishali.
That was touching, Vaishali...I can understand how you feel.."Love for the old and the new and you can't have both..."I had been in that situation many a time... I am sure you would love your kitchen in Pune and I am looking forward to a lot of wonderful posts from you pretty soon....
Take Care...
Thank you All! It's not gonna be easy to shut the door behind us when we go. How much ever I cribbed about the lack of small little things in this house, it was still 'home' for us. And you grow roots in homes, don't you?
But I'll think of all the nice things said by you Guys when it's finally time to go. Thanks again. :)
Oh Vaishali, I could almost sense the bit of sadness in your post. Letting go of your kitchen howmuch ever temporary it may have been is always difficult. But thanks for the photos. I never got to actually be there, but this way I at least got to see it.Its a beautiful kitchen. I am sure though that India will enrich your posts even more.
Hope to see your new kitchen in person :-) Have a safe trip.

I know how you must feel, a lot of mixed emotions. When you go back to the roots, you will feel a lot better. Keep Smiling and come back!

It hurts to leave the house.
Moving is tough, alright...but the thought of going back to ur own kitchen is great, isn't it??....I will drop in on you next time I am in india. Finally, I have someone to visit in Pune....
...now you will get to work in your own 'customised' kitchen! And maybe, I can come by every couple of years and partake your amazing baking?? And you won't need to haul any heavy Indian kitchen equipment across half the world...and you never have to be home sick (just nostalgic for the time in Dusseldorf!).
Welcome back home.
Keep checking back here to see if you'v reached back 'HOME' -
Gimme a buzz when you are settled-
Many hugs
